The middle school program at Thornton Academy has a strong academic focus. Through a traditional curriculum core of English/language arts, reading, math, social studies and science, our over-arching goal is to provide all of our middle school students with the knowledge and skills they will need to meet the expectations of their next big transition-high school.

Thornton's comprehensive high school program offers academic programs to meet every student at his or her own level. With a full range of AP and honors courses, comprehensive offerings in performing and fine arts, technology and language, solid academic support services, extensive extracurricular and athletic opportunities, cutting edge technology offerings and personalized mentoring programs, we have a lot to offer to our students.

Because we are an independent school, our private school attributes allow our faculty and students to do exciting and interesting things they may not necessarily get to do at other schools. In fact, our teachers are encouraged to create new classes, integrating content and even blending grade levels. Only their own imaginations, their schedules and the interests of their students are all that limit their possibilities.

Our students are good school community members, taking advantage of all the opportunities Thornton has to offer. Activities like TA Players (drama club), Student Council, Outdoor Adventure Club, and Civil Rights Group-not to mention school sports like soccer, football, baseball and lacrosse-are just some of the many extracurricular activities open to students at all levels.
